Yes, It’s Your Job
By Carl Woolston
We’re swamped in problems, in government, within our families and businesses. We see problems with friends, our bosses or maybe our local pastor.
We all can recognize problems around us, but that doesn’t make us unique. What makes us unique and invaluable is our ability to bring solutions to these problems.
Let’s take a workplace example. You see that a customer isn’t being treated right. You bring it up with a co-worker and he says, “That’s not my job.”
Everyone else may already know about the problem. Chances are you weren’t the first to notice it.
If everyone says “That’s not my job,” the problem never gets solved.
What if you actually did something about it?
What if you said, “Hey! There’s a hole in our system that needs to be fixed,” and then brought a solution to the problem?
Instead of just complaining, present a solution in a tactful, proactive way. You’ll begin to change the perceptions of those around you.
They’ll start to say, “She’s a problem solver,” or “He’s a go-getter.”
“They’re indispensable. We have to have them around.”
“There’s this problem. Let’s have this person think of a solution.”
You get paid much more for finding solutions than simply pointing out problems.
When you can identify problems AND discover solutions, that’s when the real value comes in.
Max business is all about helping people understand that there are things they can do to take control of their destinies, and then showing them solutions. You can present the solution in such a way that you become indispensable to them.
Look at your own teams as you’re building your Max business. Are you considered indispensable because you’re bringing so much value that people just want to be around you?
Or are you that person who will only bring up problems, or not be proactive?
All of us have room for improvement in our lives when it comes to less complaining and generating more solutions. If we do that in business, our Max businesses will really flourish.
