Arduous Circumstances Bring Opportunity for Breakthrough
Sometimes life throws you a curve ball. Everything seems to be going fine and then it all dries up.
It can be baffling and frustrating to go through these dry spells. Times like these test our character and show us what we’re made of.
What will you do when doors close in your face? How will you remove the obstacles that block your vision?
Most of the time, people won’t break their non-productive habits to overcome personality flaws on their own; It takes a life-altering event, or change in circumstances, to send them into productive introspection.
Unfortunately, some people need to face more obstacles than others before they start making changes.
We have to learn that outward circumstances only provide an opportunity for phenomenal growth. We’re the ones who have to overcome what’s been holding us back and turn it into what propels us forward.
You Will Be Tested
There are three things that will be tested when you attempt to do anything of value with your life:
- Faith
- Persistence
- Habits
Belief is what drives action. If you have no belief in yourself and what you are doing, you will not accomplish it.
It takes belief to hold an idea, develop it into a dream, create a vision and then bring it to fruition.
Through this process, your belief will be challenged by obstacles and potential detours. A loss of a resource, an unexpected problem or delay, and personal disappointments can erode our faith to keep going.
Remembering your inspiration and looking at the value you’re giving the world are vital to staying focused on the prize.
This is where persistence comes in.
Sometimes circumstances can seem so bleak that discouragement curtails our progress. The question is: will you lie down and give up, or will you get back up and trod on?
Persistence is what tells us to keep at it, work harder, faster, longer and more efficiently. Persistence is the action of belief.
Last but not least, harmful habits cause many difficulties and delays. Usually, you need to change your thinking to avoid them in the future. If we have harmful habits, they’ll reveal themselves when we’re tested. It’s tempting to blame our dilemma on outside forces.
But if we want to grow, we have to be fearless in assessing ourselves.
Be honest about the quality and effort you are putting forth. Is there a way you could work more efficiently? Are you making the most of your time? Or are you wasting valuable time and resources?
Honest self-inventory can be humbling, but it’s necessary for progress.
Stay the Same, Or Rise To The Occasion
There comes a time when you must choose to change, or let your goals and dreams die.
While you’re deciding, remember these key things:
- Hold onto your faith.
- Make decisions according to your values and goals.
- Assess your work and effort honestly.
- Make necessary changes.
You can be sure that it is time for change when life’s obstacles keep presenting themselves. In these moments, ask yourself: What is the lesson I must learn?
